We always consider our customers' budgets. Using a certain number of characters in a text message corresponds to a "credit." Considering that our customers send thousands of SMS a day through Pony Express HQ, careful use of "credits" gains importance. In this regard, our technical team has implemented "Smart Encoding" that enables customers to send the same amount of messages, using fewer credits.

With Smart Encoding, Pony Express HQ's newest feature automatically replaces UCS-2 characters from your prepared text with the fallback GSM-7 characters.

This is because when a message contains even a single Unicode character, it gets segmented at 70 instead of 160 characters. Often these characters – a long dash ( — ), a smart quote ( 〞) or Unicode whitespace – slip in and are hard to identify as the cause of your message being split up.

This allows customers to spend fewer "credits." 🎉 Besides, doing this manually is very difficult, and the client has to have technical knowledge. But no worries! That's why the Pony Express HQ team implemented the Smart Encoding feature to help automate this process for our valued clients.
